Northridge High School is ranked 18th among all Alabama high schools!

If we were to pick one word to describe Northridge High School, that word would be “Excellence.” The Northridge family, including students, parents, faculty/staff, and community, all have in common the expectation that we hold one another to a high standard in every endeavor involving our school.

Schoolwide Accolades

Northridge High School has been honored with U.S. News & World Report's "Best High Schools" accolades four times: 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022. (Northridge also earned a "Silver Award" from U.S. News & World Report in 2019!) We're proud to be ranked as the #18 high school in the state of Alabama.

Academic Excellence

Northridge High School students are consistently recognized as National Merit Scholarship Finalists and Semifinalists, as well as Advanced Placement (AP) Scholars with Distinction! We proudly offer 14 AP classes for our scholars. Many Northridge students also participate in Dual Enrollment classes through Shelton State College and the University of Alabama.

Personal Growth

Innovative programs such as the Comeback Academy provide customized educational plans to meet a variety of student needs. Mentoring is provided to new teachers and faculty in order to ensure a smooth transition, as well as encourage teacher retention. Flexible education allows for individualized opportunities, and Peer Tutoring pairs students with a deficit in reading and/or math with volunteers who demonstrate strength in those subjects.

Student Organizations

Northridge has a strong SGA, which is comprised of more than 30 students who meet during the school day to lead and plan community and school service projects. We're also proud of our excellent visual and performing Fine Arts Department, which provides invaluable opportunities for students throughout their high school careers. From Key Club to Spanish Club and Ambassadors to Fellowship of Christian Athletes, there is an activity, sport or club for everyone at Northridge!

Strong Programs

Northridge has a superior school newspaper, as rated by the Alabama Scholastic Press Association. Our school yearbook, the Blueprints, has also scored superior ratings for the last six years. The business/marketing department at Northridge is recognized annually at the state and national level in a variety of areas. Additionally, our school's advisory/four-year plan is the torch bearer for the TCS schools, and contributions from our parent stakeholders enable us to have one of the strongest PTSAs among the high schools in the state.

Athletic Opportunities

Northridge High School offers 34 athletic team sports throughout the school year. The team mascot is the "Jaguars" and our colors are sky blue and black. Many in the state refer to our school as "The Ridge." All athletic teams play in the Alabama Athletic High School Association (AAHSA) 6A region. Countless student-athletes have signed college athletic scholarships through the years at Northridge High School. We are proud of our athletic facilities that our student-athletes enjoy throughout the years.
